Timorese Youth (ongoing)

Photography, Governance, Youth, Civic Participation

What resilience looks like from the inside, in one of the world's youngest nations.
Timor-Leste is one of the youngest nations in the world, both in years of independence and median age. And its young people are navigating both at once. This ongoing project explores what it means to come of age in a Small Island Developing State running on an oil fund that is slowly draining, while building its institutions. High youth unemployment. A widening gap between civic promise and lived experience. A generation caught between traditional structures and an uncertain modern path. The work listens to their voice in the in-between — disillusionment, boredom, ambition, defiance, hope — and asks what resilience actually looks like from the inside.
