Mushroom Hunting in Baucau, Timor-Leste

Photography, Food Security, Traditional Knowledge

A form of food security that predates any development programme.
In the highlands of Baucau, foraging for wild mushrooms remains a practice of subsistence: reading the land, knowing the season, trusting inherited knowledge over imported certainty. This series documents a quieter form of food security: not aid-dependent, nor market-driven, but rooted in generations of ecological literacy and traditional cooking methods that predate any development programme.
